Repairing A Craftsman Hedgetrimmer

A strange thing to find at the side of the road, a Craftsman 2-stroke hedge trimmer, with blue tape on top that reads "FREE - NOT WORKING".

The amusing part is that if I hadn't had to drive my kid to school later than normal, I never would have found that trimmer.
But there it was, waiting at the side of the road.
I pulled over, had a really good laugh, and picked it up.
A quick once-over and I figured "How hard can this be to get working?"
Boy I was not kidding. This trimmer was just waiting for a simple service, nothing more. In fact, it was so ready to run when I found it, that I barely had to do much to get it to start and run.
I did the usual tests.. Pulled the spark plug, tossed in some 2-stroke mix, and pulled it over a few times.
Sure enough, it started up just fine.
So step 2, pour a bit into the carb and see if it'll rev up, which, it did! It started, revved up, and sounded great.

Seeing the broken fuel lines on it, I knew that adding fuel to the tank would be pointless, but changing the fuel lines, or should I say, feeding fuel through a bottle, the hedge trimmer didn't just start.. It idled, and continued to run... Until I revved it up again, and it just died.

A quick carb clean, replaced the diaphragms, and sure enough, it started, ran, revved, and cut my hedges!
Great find.
